Meet Your Early Years Education Consultant

Hello, I’m Fi

Early Years Education Consultant – School Readiness & Early Phonics Specialist

Supporting families across Australia with simple, structured early literacy guidance

I have spent my entire professional career working in early childhood education and services, supporting young children as they take their first steps into learning and literacy.

My journey began in my hometown of Bundaberg as a Kindergarten teacher before taking me to London, where I worked in leading independent schools across Harrow and Hampstead. During this time, I held a range of roles including Teaching Assistant, Classroom Teacher, Inclusion Officer, and Head of Early Years Department.

It was through this work that I was introduced to the powerful impact of early phonics instruction, particularly the introduction of letter–sound correspondences from as early as three years of age. When taught in a developmentally appropriate way, this approach provides children with a strong and lasting foundation for literacy.

After returning to Australia, I spent five years working in child protection. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of the challenges many families face and reinforced my belief that early support, guidance, and strong foundations can make a profound difference in a child’s life.

I am also a mother to two wonderful (and very bright) children, now entering their teenage years. Like their mum, both are neurodivergent, and raising them has given me a deeply personal understanding of how differently children learn and develop.

It has strengthened my belief that with the right approach, patience, and encouragement, every child is capable of success.

Phonics Foundations™ was created so I could continue working in an area I am deeply passionate about — supporting young children to build strong literacy foundations — while also maintaining the flexibility to meet the needs of my own family.

Through this work, I aim to support not only children, but also their parents — providing the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to make the transition into school a positive and successful experience.

My goal is this - To help children enter school confident, capable, and ready to learn — while giving parents the understanding and reassurance they need along the way.

With kindness always,

Fi
